I had a bit of a different take, but that's the thing with Pike's Morals & Dogma, we all get to interpret it in our own way!
I rather thought he meant that whatever religion/philosophy/belief system or whatever we might follow and profess, it should be moral. It is OK if it is untrue, but not if it is immoral.

Hmm, I think this means- a man is responsible to live thoroughly by his word and accept the consequences.
